Sophomore Leadership Retreat: a once in a lifetime opportunity!

At the beginning of each fall semester, the Leadership Academy conducts the annual Sophomore Leadership Retreat, which is aimed at developing leadership skills, building teamwork, and creating a strong sense of community among the sophomore class. This annual off-site retreat is designed exclusively for each year's sophomore class.

Sophomore Leadership Retreat provides an opportunity for second year students to get away for an enjoyable weekend, spend time with their peers, and develop their leadership skills in a fun way. Students attending the Retreat choose among a wide range of activities, including team problem solving challenges, team building exercises, rock climbing, ropes courses (up high or on-the-ground), sailing, kayaking, and inspirational speakers. Students participate in only those activities with which they are comfortable and have a real interest. There are also recreational activities such as water sports, volleyball, and campfires. Students have a terrific time, in addition to building friendships and challenging themselves in unique ways.

During the Retreat, IIT facilitators work with professionals from the Outdoor Wisconsin Leadership School (OWLS) and Aurora University to provide an outdoor adventure retreat, which allows an intensive focus on skill and value development. The adventure activities emphasize leadership, teamwork and the rewards inherent in working with and supporting others. The Retreat also promotes the values of volunteerism and servant leadership.

The Sophomore Leadership Retreat is held on Lake Geneva, Wisconsin during two weekends at the start of the fall semester. Transportation, accommodations, meals and activities are provided. The weekend is completely free to participants, although a small deposit (cash or check) is required when registering. The deposit is refunded upon attendance at the Retreat.
