Painting On Water™, developed by Amy Basic, is designed to teach you to think more creatively. This one of a kind, 100% hands-on session will offer you interactive, inspirational and spiritual insights. Be prepared to enhance your awareness and appreciation of beauty and opportunities while you journal your transformation for personal applications. Both relaxing and energizing, the workshop will fluctuate between polarities of meaning, allowing you to learn about the essence of human experience and its relationship to the universe. Past participants have found it to be a fun, unique and a thought-provoking creative experience. Each participant will create their own personal piece of artwork (black & white) as well as collaborate with others to create a group piece.

Amy Basic (also known as Amy Lee Segami) is both a mechanical engineer and a professional artist. With water as canvas, Segami draws on physics knowledge and Asian cultures to create art. Fluctuating between polarities of meaning, her works evoke the essence of human experience and its relationship to the universe. Since 1989, her unique and distinctive paintings have won numerous awards, featured in exhibitions and permanent collections.
Born in China, raised in Hong Kong, Segami is a naturalized US citizen. She earned a B.S. and M.S. in Mechanical Engineering from Illinois Institute of Technology and studied many traditional Asian art forms. Painting on Water™ Workshop is an experiential program she developed for innovators to enhance creativity and problem solving skills. Segami is recognized for her extraordinary talents in bridging the gap between science and art, combining them with the cultural diversity of the East and West into a rich medium for expression, development, and innovation.

Program Overview
Leadout is an exciting hands-on, process-oriented leadership simulation that shares theories and skills developed by leading management experts. The simulation uses a land acquisition scenario that presents every challenge found in high performing work groups. Each participant receives part of the information needed to make sound decisions. They can share it, sit on it, or give part of it away. Every move the individual makes affects the group and the final outcome. The challenge is for the team to make quality decisions while confronting every-day organizational problems.
Come and learn how to work as a team player and enhance your leadership skills. Also, come to just have FUN!!
Heather McLinden will facilitate this program. Heather is an industrial/organizational psychologist who serves as associate director of the IIT Leadership Academy and the Center for Research and Service, which is a consulting unit of the Institute of Psychology. Prior to coming to IIT, Heather worked as a consultant within a number of Chicago-based organizations such as Wonderlic, Inc. and Baxter Healthcare. Further, she has taught undergraduate and graduate level industrial and organizational psychology courses at IIT, Elmhurst College, and Chicago School of Professional Psychology. Her specialties include leadership assessment and development, personnel selection, test validation, structured-behavioral interview training and development, job analysis and assessment centers.

Program Overview
This workshop will help participants understand the key elements of culture and how these factors impact work behavior such as leadership and teamwork. Using a case-study approach, participants will learn to:
• diagnose sources of conflict when working across cultures
• anticipate challenges involved in working on cross-cultural teams
• adapt their leadership behavior to important elements of culture
This program will provide participants with a deep understanding of important cultural factors that may impact work behavior, including:
• Religion and belief systems
• Values, norms and customs
• Material culture (e.g., economics, technology)
• Social structure
• Language - verbal and non-verbal
• View and use of time
Participants are expected to read two brief case studies prior to attending the program. During the workshop, participants will work in teams to analyze the case studies and present implications of culture for leadership style and work behavior.
This workshop promises to be a highly interactive and engaging program. It should be viewed as a “must” for individuals who anticipate working across cultures in the global economy.
About our presenter:
Z. John Babij is an experienced cross cultural executive with diverse background in finance, marketing and operations. He is presently Professor of International Management at Lake Forest Graduate School of Management, where he earned the Excellence in Teaching Award in 2005 and 2008. In 2009, he was honored with the Distinguished Faculty Award.
He worked previously for Jarzen Global Consultants Ltd. as Director, Global Marketing, where he was based on Athens, Greece. Besides trade (export and import), Jarzen Global Consultants Ltd. conducts market research, due diligence and feasibility analysis for firms interested in accessing and penetrating Soviet markets. They maintain a branch in Athens, Greece and sustain close relationships with affiliates in Istanbul, Turkey and Warsaw, Poland.

Prior to co-founding Performance Potential, Jeff was founder and CEO of FTR, a premier consulting firm with clients worldwide. Jeff brings a unique perspective to clients as a business owner who has been through all the stages of a company’s life; from its founding, through the various phases of growth, and ultimate sale. This invaluable experience has greatly benefited his clients.
Jeff serves as an adjunct professor at the University of Notre Dame where his progressive business courses consistently receive exemplary ratings. He received his BA from the University of Notre Dame and an MBA from the University of Illinois. He founded the JJS foundation to help underprivileged children reach their potential.
Karen Kimsey-Sward, principal and co-founder of Performance Potential, Inc., has over 25 years experience as a top producing salesperson, sales manager, and performance improvement consultant. She has worked extensively with a wide variety of organizations integrating their strategy, processes and skills to improve performance. Karen’s practical, results-oriented approach, coupled with her real world experience has brought her clients significant value and results.
Karen is an accomplished speaker and a published writer. Over the years she has lectured at numerous national and international symposiums and conferences. Her areas of focus include: improving sales performance, creating fully engaged employees, managing generational differences, implementing effective management processes and implementing best practices.
Prior to establishing Performance Potential, Inc, Karen was Executive Vice President/COO of a premier sales consulting firm. She played a critical role in helping this organization achieve significant growth to become one of the top performance improvement companies. In addition, she worked in the pharmaceutical division of Procter & Gamble and held several key positions with major financial institutions.
Karen earned a BBA, with a concentration in marketing, from Marshall University.
